10 Fun Camping Activities For Kids To Do On A Camping Trip

Camping is fun as it is your chance to break away from the hectic routine of city life. Dream being able to breathe the fresh air while at the same time releasing and submitting yourself wholly to nature. Besides adults, kids also enjoy going camping outdoors. However if your camping trip takes too long, they might get bored after a few days away from their television and computer. That could spell disaster. Don't fret though, below are 10 camping activities that would genuinely keep them entertained and occupied.

1. Get wet and go splashing. If you cannot find a good swimming spot, usually most of the camping parks would advise where you could find a good and safe spot for you to swim, whether a big lake or a small brook. Some of them might have their own swimming pools. Avoid the swimming pool at all costs and go swimming in a lake amidst nature. The feel that you'll get is indescribable. Some camping parks would offer a boat rental service, where you could rent a boat or canoe for a small fee. Your kids will have a blast. A word of caution, never leave your kids swimming by themselves. Be watchful at all times.

2. Rent a bike and go biking together. Most camping sites have biking trails for you and your family to explore. Be adventurous. Riding bicycles is very enjoyable as you are able to enjoy the gorgeous scenery. Ride slow and make sure that everybody is not left behind. Bring a map with you and plan your biking trip adventure before making the trip so that you know exactly where you are heading and where you want to be. Plan your time properly, so that you would be able to make the whole trip and back to your camp before it gets dark.

3. Go bird and animal watching. Most forest parks and camping sites have brochures or leaflets about the separate types of animals that can be found around the area that are worth watching and to look out for. A fun thing to do is to buy books on wild animals before your camping trip and play a game with your children and see who can spot the animals first. Just be sure that you keep your children at a safe distance.

4. Play outdoor games such as tug-o-war or the classic sack race or just plain tag. Children love these games, especially when they're playing these games in the woods. Make sure that you are playing in a clear area to avoid unwanted accidents and also avoid making loud noises that might disturb other campers and especially the wildlife.

5. Go on a scavenger hunt. Who doesn't love to go on such quests and adventures. What's good about a scavenger hunt is that it involves the physical, which means you'll get yourself and your kids to practice while having fun at the same time. Prior to the game, just warn the kids on the type of things that they should avoid, such as poison ivy, sumac, oak and other prickly plants that might be lurking in the woods. Also, you have to be sure that you teach your kids how to read maps. That could also be a separate game and will be discussed below.

6. Teach your kids how to read maps and compasses. Educate them on the significance of sailing and inspect the forest with them using the maps and compasses. Show them the location that they are at now on the map and where you guys are going. Get them to notice anything requisite on your path, such as a tree with a weird shape or something that is out of the lowly to identify. This should go hand in hand with your scavenger hunt.

7. What's camping without a campfire? This is a must to every camper out there. Your camping feel would not be perfect without a campfire. This should be done at the end of the day before you go to sleep. Telling each other scary stories and jokes is recommended. Also, don't forget to bring a guitar and sing songs around the campfire. Other activities you can do around the campfire is to play word games and riddles while roasting your favourite marshmallows and hotdogs.

8. Someone else night performance that you can do is to watch the stars in the sky. This is both fun and educational. Get everybody to lie on an open field and appreciate the free light show in the sky. You can also bring a star chart and try to inspect the sublime constellations and other heavenly bodies. If you're lucky, you might catch a shooting star. Don't forget to make your wish though.

9. This next game is frowned upon by some campers, but you should bathe in the rain when it rains. This is recommended if the weather is not cold. Otherwise you might get sick. It's sort of depressing when it rains when you are out camping. Rather than complaining about it, take the chance to have fun in the rain and enjoy mother earth's natural shower. Not recommended when there is thunder and lightning.

10. Just plainly enjoy the moment and relax. It might not be a big hit with the kids but it is the most thorough time to bond with your family and enjoy everyone's company. Take your time to enjoy the nature, it's not everyday your family get to enjoy this holiday.

There are many other outdoor activities that you could enjoy doing when you go out camping. By no means that the 10 activities discussed above are complete. The most important thing to remember is to enjoy your time with your family. It's not everyday that you get this kind of opportunity. So, enjoy!

Camping Dinners - 7 Foil Cooking Recipes

Somehow food tastes much great outdoors. Maybe it's the crisp and fresh air. Maybe my appetite is bigger. Maybe it's being able to eat without being interrupted by the phone!

Coleman Boats

The only drawback to camping cooking is preparing and cleaning up. I don't like cooking multi-step recipes or scrubbing smoke-stained dishes in less than enough dishpans after the meal when I can be watching the sunset.

That is why my popular cooking 'pot' is aluminum foil.

Foil cooking allows you to get ready delicous meals in the coals of your campfire and have nothing to wash when dinner is over! Below are 7 of my popular foil wrap recipes. But first let's go over the basics of tin foil cooking:

Use heavy-duty foil so you don't burn the food and so the packet doesn't tear.Use assembly-line technique, not one foil packet at a time. EPut some butter in the packet so your food won't stick to the packet.Sprinkle seasonings generously. It makes others think you are a pro at this.Double-seal by folding twice to keep the moisture in. When you fold leave air room for heat circulation inside.Don't cook foil packets over roaring fire. A small fire or white hot coals is better.
Tip: For first night, get ready the foil packets at home. When you get to camp, just toss them on the coals.

Here are 7 foil packet recipes: Note: depending on how hot the coals are, it takes commonly 20-30 minutes, less for fish or pre-cooked items. Turn every 5 minutes.

Recipe 1. Ham & Sweet Potato

- 1 slice of pre-cooked ham (this can be fresh or canned)

- 1 serving canned yams (about 3 pieces)

- 1 or 2 canned pineapple rings

- 1 to 2 tablespoons of brown sugar

- 1/2 tablespoon butter

Recipe 2. Chicken Potato Packets

- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves

- 4 medium red potatoes, cut in 1/2-inch cubes

- 2 cups frosty green peas

- 1 jar (12 oz.) chicken gravy

- 1 teaspoon salt

- ½ teaspoon dried thyme

- 1/8 teaspoon pepper

Recipe 3. Baby back pork ribs

- 3 pounds baby back pork ribs

- 1 tablespoon packed brown sugar

- 1 tablespoon paprika

- 2 teaspoons garlic powder

- 1 ½ teaspoons pepper

- ½ cup water

- 1 ½ cups barbecue sauce

Or just buy a packet of ready-to-heat Lloyds Barbecue Ribs

Recipe 4. Tuscan Sword Fish

- 1 can (15 oz.) Great Northern or cannellini beans, rinsed, drained

- 1 medium tomato, chopped

- 2 tablespoons prepared pesto, divided

- 2 swordfish steaks (4 to 6 oz. Each)

- 2 teaspoons lemon juice

- 1 teaspoon lemon pepper

- 2 lemon slices

Recipe 5. Shrimp Jambalaya Packets

- 1 pound peeled and de-veined medium uncooked shrimp

- 4 cups cooked rice

- ½ pound smoked sausage, sliced

- 1 can (14 1/2 oz.) diced tomatoes with garlic and onions

- 1 medium green bell pepper, chopped

- 3 to 4 teaspoons dried Cajun seasoning

- 1 teaspoon hot sauce

Recipe 6 Mexican Pork Packets

- 4 boneless pork chops, about 1/2-inch thick

- 1 teaspoon chili powder

- 1 cup medium chunky salsa

- 1 can (15 1/4 oz.) whole kernel corn, drained Or 1 box (10 oz.) frosty whole kernel corn

- ½ cup chopped green bell pepper

Recipe 7 Cranberry Apple Sweet Potatoes

- 4 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/4-inch slices

- 2 Granny Smith or Golden delicious apples, cored, thinly sliced in rings

- ½ cup dried cranberries

- 3 tablespoons margarine or butter, melted

- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Have fun foil cooking. Open the foil considered to avoid a burst of hot steam .

Cctv Camera - Do-It-Yourself facility Guide

Introduction:

Coleman Boats

This guide is written for those who do need video protection and can't afford precious factory services, or if the Cctv installer is not available in your area - the later is more tasteless than one could think. We will cover most tasteless protection tool types, as it is virtually impossible to go over such a wide rang of different protection cameras and recording/video processing tool available on the market.

I assume anyone inspecting do-it-yourself Cctv factory has basic knowledge of wiring techniques and practices. I am not to be held responsible or liable for damages to the tool due to mishandling or misuse. Remember; during the factory all the time pay concentration to safety. Working at heights and using tools can be dangerous, please effect all protection practices. Lets jump right to it now.

Planning: First step of any camera factory is to plan camera and monitoring tool locations. When planning for camera locations please take in consideration light condition, never install cameras in low light room pointing level into the sunny area it will add glare to the picture, even if your camera has back light payment it will not be enough. Use infrared cameras for very dark conditions and/or B/W cameras with as low Lux number as possible. I am not going to discuss proper tool selection, as this was branch of my last article.

Selecting the best potential camera locations is not easy, and will directly impact the camera views. Besides light conditions, the distance to the monitoring object is equally important. There are many different types and focal lengths of lenses; your choice will depend on light condition and distance from the camera to the monitoring object. In small rooms around 500sq. Ft. Cameras with thorough 3.6mm lens should be Ok. Keep in mind that most bullet and board type of cameras come with 3.6mm lens, the greater the distance to the monitoring object the longer focal distance of the lens will be needed. There is no ease way of judging lens selection, you can eider guess or buy professional lens selector tool.. Alternatively you can start with your lens choice and if needed get longer or shorter focal distance lens later. Other choice as far as lens choice goes, is to use variable focus lens, which is very versatile approach and takes the guess out of the lens choice process. For those who do not know what variable focus lens is, it's basically adjustable focal distance lens that will allow to turn the focal distance within specified range, fore example: 2.6mm - 8mm or 5mm - 50mm.

To maximize cameras coverage and get the most out of the Cctv system for least number of money minimize number of it by placing cameras in strategic places, unless unblemished area coverage is needed. Avoid overlapping camera views, do not install them with source of light directly in front of it and do not place infrared cameras pointing at each other to eliminate risk of overexposure. These are the most tasteless mistakes that need to be avoided. After the first camera locations are predetermined, lets look at cable placement. Make sure that it is for real potential and practical to run cable to each location, if running the cable to any camera location is for some reason impossible opt-out for alternate location.

Wiring: The most time sharp and prominent part of any camera factory is wiring. Plan your factory thought about to minimize cable lengths and insure good potential video signal. Never run cables alongside high power electrical lines, at least 12" spacing between video cable and power lines are recommended. Keep the cable lengths below 400ft and use good potential cable, most habitancy take the cable for granted, but it is for real very prominent aspect of any installation. The Cctv system is only as good as its weakest component. I normally stick with Rg59U with power Coleman cable (Yes it is Us made) sometimes called Siamese type cable. It is combo cable and will send video and power, as an alternative it is sometimes potential to use less expensive Rg6 thorough coax cable with separate run of 18/2Awg for power.

The Siamese cable is less bulky and easer to run, distribution power furnish is recommended with this type of cable as power will be supplied from tasteless place right next to monitor and recording equipment. Using Siamese cable makes for more clean and neat installation, as only one line is required for each camera. Running Rg6 cable with separate run for power is the likely solution if power outlets are available near each locations. In this case private plug in power supplies are used to power them with power cable running as separate and independent line to the camera. Both types of cables are available at dvrexperts. When running the cable it is good custom to leave integrate of loops of extra cable at both camera and monitoring locations. This extra distance of cable is needed if in the time to come monitoring or location will have to be moved slightly. After the cable is in place, the labor-intensive part of factory is over, now we can get to the fun part of installation.

Camera mounting: Most s come with mounting screws and bracket included, attach the bracket firmly and remember that in some cases different brackets than the ones supplied with the cameras could be needed.

Attach the camera to the bracket and adjust the position practically at this time, we will come back to it later. Typical protection camera is powered by 12Vdc or 24Vac and power input type is screw or push terminals or 2.1mm plug. Power association will differ for each type of power furnish and input style. Most cameras are 12Vdc, in this case it is prominent to explore polarity or you may damage the camera. The power cable has two conductors and in most cases it will be red or white and black cable. Use the red or white for unavoidable and black for negative terminals. If it has screw or push terminals power input join together the cable directly observing polarity, if it is 2.1mm plug, a extra 2.1Mm Female Dc Plug with Flying Leads have to be connected to the cable again keep concentration to polarity. The 24Vac association is very similar, with one major dissimilarity - polarity is not important.

Next step will involve some extra tools and accessories. We will attempt to go over factory process of Bnc crimp-on video connector, I will post video demonstration of Bnc crimping techniques shortly so please check the web sites mentioned in this report often.

Steps:
1. Remove about 1/2-inch long outer jacket from the end of video cable exposing braid.
2. Slide the crimping barrel onto the cable with the larger diameter facing end of the cable.
3. Pull the braid backwards exposing the inner isolator material and Remove 3/8-inch of it so you have now core conductor exposed.
4. The main part of Bnc connector has a small hole on one side; push the exposed core conductor of the cable into that hole as far as it will go.
5. Push all the braid folded backwards in step 3 onto the Bnc connector and spread the braid evenly around connector.
6. Push the crimping barrel onto the Bnc connector all the way.
7. Using crimping tool, squeeze the crimping barrel onto the Bnc connector, now the cable braid is compressed in between crimping barrel and Bnc connector assuring procure connection.

Bnc connector is on, lets hook it up now and repeat the steps for each camera, if you have purchased 16 camera system you may want to get some coffee first.

Monitor and recorder connection:

Cameras are on, its time to make final connections. I will focused on thorough Cctv monitor, standalone Dvr recorder and distribution power supply, as this is the most favorite and likely solution for most Cctv installations.

First we have to install Bnc connectors on this side as well - its time for that coffee again. It is good idea to make room for monitor and recorder now and setup some type of desk, shelf or rack to place all the tool on.

We need the monitor and recorder in place so we can decide proper power furnish location. Power furnish should be mounted within integrate of feet from the Dvr video inputs. After power furnish is secured separate the power conductors from the Siamese cable, and run it to power supply. Like we did with the cameras if 12Vdc power is used, we need to watch the polarity, each final on the power furnish is marked, so there should not be any doubt. Make sure the power furnish is not plugged in to the power outlet yet.

Connect video cables to the Dvr video in ports. We need one video cable to join together the Dvr with the monitor, if you do not have one you may cut piece of Siamese cable separate the power conductors from it and install Bnc connectors on both ends, you now have the cable. join together the Dvr monitor out port to monitor video in. We are practically ready to power up everything; there is only one more thing to take care before we do that.

We need to safe the tool from power spikes by plugging it into power conditioner or great yet, buttery backup unit. If the factory location is experiencing frequent power outages, the backup unit is strongly recommended. To extend the backup time only plug the Dvr and camera power furnish to the backup unit and the monitor to quarterly power strip, this way if we do loose power for some time the Dvr and cameras are still functioning as normal while monitor is off. Turning off monitor will not affect Dvr and cameras in any way; it is for real good habit to turn the monitor of if not used to extend its life.

Power on and final adjustment: Yes... We are now ready to power it up for the first time, if this is your first factory it may be nerve-racking experience. Start with turning the cameras power furnish on, turn the monitor on as well followed by Dvr system. The stand-alone Dvr, after self-test will show cameras or setup menu on first power up depending on your model.

To setup the Dvr refer to the manual for proper settings. Go over each camera view to decide if the view is for real what you want, hardly ever it will be without additional readjustments. To properly and for real adjust the positions, the test monitor will be very handy if not needful tool. Go to each camera location and join together the test monitor to adjust the position to your preferences, if satisfied procure camera bracket adjustment screws - we will not go back to this camera anymore.

Conclusion: Congratulations! You have just completed your most likely, very first factory of Cctv system. Visit our store fore more data on guard cameras, Dvr recorders, tools and accessories.

seeing the Right Canoe Motor Mount

seeing the Right Canoe Motor Mount

There are not many more ways to relax and enjoy the water either it be on a lazy river, or a lake, than being in a canoe. The serenity that surrounds you is amazing. Most people use their paddles to get on down the river, or for a short cruise on the lake, but many like to have a motor on their canoe to power it. Before you purchase the motor you want, you will want to buy a canoe mount, and there a few things you need to check into first before purchase.

Canoe motor mounts normally come two ways: Wooden or aluminum. The aluminum canoe mount is made of a heavy-duty aluminum. The aluminum motor mount is normally hooked up to the canoe on either side(starboard or port) and secured with a clamping mechanism. These types are able to derive gasoline or electric motors that have been rated up to four horsepower. The aluminum types are popular and will fit just about any type of canoe on the market.

If you prefer a wooden mount, realize that they are typically made of ash wood. These wooden mounts are generally good for the electric motor that has been rated up to four horsepower. They are not totally wooden however, they still utilize stainless steel parts to help derive them to the canoe.

The aluminum mounts are generally easy-on, and easy off. You can purchase one that fits all models except the Sportspal and the Raddison models for only .95, and is great with electric or gas motors. Sportspal and Raddison models have unique brackets all their own.

The Old Town Canoe Motor is a perfect motor mount for any Old Town Canoe. It gives the canoe great versatility and functionality. What is so great about these motor mounts is that there are no tools required to attach the mount. All you have to do is attach the mount to the gunwales of the canoe and handtighten. It is a heavy-duty aluminum bracket that can safely derive a gas or electric canoe motor that has been rated up to three horsepower.

When inspecting a canoe motor mount, think the options of versatility. Make sure that you find one that can safely derive a gas or electric motor that has been rated up to four horsepower. Wooden or aluminum, the correct canoe motor mount can make your feel on the water much more enjoyable.

The American Flyer Model Train

Although The American Flyer model trains were at their peak of popularity in the middle of the 1940s and the 1960s, they absolutely had a long history before that, and their popularity seems to be on the increase again today.

William Hafner, working as a toymaker in Chicago, industrialized a clockwork motor for use in toy cars in the very early part of the 19th Century and by 1905 was making toy trains using that clockwork motor.

Coleman Boats

With a friend, William Coleman, and using a small hardware manufacturing enterprise known as the Edmonds-Metzel Hardware Company, Hafner began producing toy clockwork trains while 1906-7. These Edmond-Metzel trains were sold so successfully straight through some major retailers that the brand name The American Flyer was adopted for marketing purposes and by 1910, the name of the hardware enterprise had been changed to American Flyer Manufacturing Company.

The American Flyer trains proved very popular, in part because they were lower priced than other makes favorite at that time, and also because their detailing made them more realistic than other low budget model trains.

Hafner left the partnership in 1913 to start up his own enterprise and Coleman's American Flyer trains did extremely well while the First World War as they had no competition in the Us from the German companies. By 1918, the first of the American Flyer galvanic trains were in yield and enterprise boomed while the 1920s but declined sharply while the Great Depression.

In 1938, William Coleman Jr, son of the company's founder, who had taken over the enterprise following his father's death in 1918, sold the American Flyer to the A C Gilbert Company. Gilbert had been manufacturing and selling an allembracing range of toys but not toy trains. He moved the enterprise from Chicago to New Haven, Connecticut and immediately began to re-design the trains. He re-developed the American Flyer as S-scale in 1939 , a scale which was a modification of the very favorite O gauge model trains then on the market. The S scale, which scales trains to the 1:64 ratio and made them smaller than the O scale trains, had a whole of major advantages in terms of the track and track layouts.

In 1946 Gilbert made an additional one major convert to the American Flyer. Until that stage model galvanic trains had run on three rails, with the centre rail carrying the current. Gilbert industrialized a two rail principles for running the American Flyer. This two-rail track, which had seven-eighths inches in the middle of the rails, made the track layout, and hence train operation, more realistic as the track now looked like 'real train track'.

With the coming of television - to distract both younger habitancy and older habitancy from their quarterly hobbies - together with the rise of the discount chain stores which undercut prices and demanded lower wholesale prices, A C Gilbert enterprise ran into trouble and in 1962 was sold to Wrather Group. The new owners produced lines of toys, together with model trains, which were of very poor capability and sales dropped sharply until in 1966 yield of the American Flyer ceased. By 1967 the enterprise was bankrupt.

At this time, Lionel Corporation, which was itself in financial trouble although it had been the important model train constructor for many decades, bought the possession to the American Flyer. However, by 1969 Lionel Corporation itself was bankrupt and sold the possession to the design of its model trains, together with the American Flyer, to normal Mills.

General Mills began selling some of the original Gilbert designed American Flyer trains by 1979 but in 1984 sold its Lionel enterprise section to a toy manufacturer, Kenner who on-sold the enterprise to Richard Kughn in 1985.

Kughn was very successful for over 10 years with the Lionel and American Flyer trains but sold in 1996 to Wellspring Partners who set up the enterprise Lionel Llc, which operates today selling a range of model trains, together with the S-scale American Flyer. Initially Lionel Llc concentrated on promoting the O and O27 scale model trains of its original lines but since 2002 has been releasing more and more American Flyer models.

The American Flyer then, is now more that 100 years old, and has gone though a whole of ownerships and fluctuations in popularity. Dedicated S-scale enthusiasts now believe that this noted model train is once again making a resurgence.
